The Use of Activity Sheds in Dementia Care

An activity shed is a designated space where people with dementia can take part in various activities. These spaces may be multipurpose or be dedicated to one particular activity.

This helpsheet is a useful guide for aged care providers to consider the use of activity sheds to encourage engagement of a person or persons living with dementia.

The guide explains why an aged care home might consider an activity shed, what an activity shed can be, and who is likely to benefit.

The guide also gives some tips on what to consider when setting up an activity shed and how you would introduce this new resource into a person’s individual activity plan.
