Free DSA workshops in Alice Springs and Darwin

Thursday 8 August, 2019

Dementia Support Australia delivers 24/7 support for people living with dementia, their carers and health professionals where behaviours impact on their care. Led by HammondCare, Dementia Support Australia offers a range of services tailored to support metro, regional and remote communities – with the focus on individually developed interventions and recommendations. We can provide on the ground support across Northern Territory – in remote areas, with Aboriginal communities, in residential care settings and at home.

In Dementia Awareness Month, Dementia Support Australia will be delivering free workshops across Alice Springs and Darwin open to both the community and health professionals.

In the community information sessions we’ll be focusing on dementia, engagement and understanding the impact on care. Sessions will look at how we can support the wellbeing and autonomy of the person living with dementia by understanding the impact of their life history. Our team will also discuss how Dementia Support Australia may be able to play a vital supporting role in care.

We will also be hosting a professional development session for health professionals which will cover medications and the impact on behaviour, with a section on the importance of non-pharmacological interventions. The team will demonstrate through case studies how the DSA service can make a difference in providing care on the ground.
