Dementia Consultant, Ashley Roberts, invites you to share ‘a day in the life of...’ as he discusses some of his most challenging cases and the “hurdles” that were faced in trying to achieve positive outcomes. Transitioning into a care home environment can often be an emotional and stressful time but for Marty and Richard, it was one of the hardest things to come to terms with. In story 2 we hear about Richard.
For Richard, who was diagnosed with dementia in his early fifties, moving into a care home wasn’t exactly his ideal retirement plan. As things rapidly progressed, with Richard being the tallest, fastest and strongest person in the care home, his future there looked to be very short which would have been disastrous for both him and his young family. Exploring both the clinical and psychosocial elements, Ashley discusses how the DSA service help’s to support people like Marty, Richard and those that are caring for them.
